What I wore…

Mccalls 5927 view D

I had an interview to attend wednesday (along with 3 other meetings for work).  This picture was taken at the end of the day. I must say the dress wore well.

For the bodice I cut the largest size  (22) and added 1/2″, next time i’ll do a full 1″ adjustment for more wiggle room.

I cut a size 18 for the skirt.

Question:: When cutting 2 sizes for the bodice of the dress and skirt, should I have graded down??

I ran into a few problems when I attached the top the bottom when the notches didn’t matc h up.

I made it work since I was sewing in the 12th hour and needed to get it DONE!

IMAGE_026however in the front sides I had some extra gathering which SHOULDNT have been there. So I tossed on a belt and kept it moving.

All in all, I consider this project a success. AND the way Mr. Johnson was looking at me like I was a piece of meat, I think  it was a public success 😉

  1. You did a fantastic job on that dress!! if that were me I might have tried grading the bodice down and would have messed it up but lovely. The best was a great idea!!

    You look great!

  2. Not that I’m ready to be giving suggestions or anything. But after you matched up the notches, maybe you could have sewn the darts deeper or added darts where there were none.

Is it okay to put darts on the front or side. See how much of a novice I am?

  3. Ooooh me likey! Makes me want to go dress shopping and I don’t wear dresses like that.

I’m nust sure about the front pocket look on me, considering I have a bubble but, I will probably look a big ol mess.

  4. I think any garment is a work in progress. If you make this again you will work out the kinks! But this version looks so nice on you and I like how you made it work!
